Registration for the Innovation Expo 2018 is now open!

October 4th 2018 will be the day: the RDM Submarine Wharf in Rotterdam South will be transformed into one big Living Lab! Experience, view, and be a part of the more than 150 innovations at the Innovation Expo, on the RDM grounds, the number one innovation hot spot in the port of Rotterdam.

Taking innovations further, realising breakthroughs, and thus contributing to the social challenges we are facing in our country and in the world, that is the ambition of the Innovation Expo 2018. With this biennial event, the government provides the business community, research institutes, NGO’s, and government bodies a platform to bring innovations into the limelight before a broad national and international audience.

Come join us at the Innovation Expo 2018 on the 4th of October 2018

During the IE2018, in addition to experiencing high-profile innovations, you will make contact with the innovation network of investors, businesses, and policymakers. Become inspired during one of the more than 40 sessions. Attend the interesting keynote presentations by speakers such as Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb and Louise Fresco, Chair of the Governing Board of Wageningen University & Research Centre.

Why an Innovation Expo?

Global Challenges

Innovation is not an isolated phenomenon; it is a precondition for progress. Never before have we been so aware of the need for innovation in order to keep our country safe, liveable, and accessible. The Innovation Expo 2018 is focused on major social challenges. Across the globe, increasingly more people are migrating to the cities. This has brought about a fundamental change in our ways of life. The pressure on our living environment is increasing. More than ever, we want to combat scarcity and we are taking different stances with respect to consumption and waste. Modern ways of living and working call for a modern infrastructure. In addition, climate change calls for innovation in our use of water and energy. And we are faced with the challenge of having the same planet Earth produce better food for more people and distributing such food efficiently.

Dutch Solutions

In the Netherlands, we tend to join forces in national and international public-private cooperatives. This concerted action, the Dutch Solution, is an element of the formula for success: from an initial idea to a new product or service, ready to be upscaled. Innovators, decision-makers, policy-makers, enablers, and consumers collectively come up with innovative solutions. Taking innovations further, realising breakthroughs, and thus contributing to the social challenges we are facing in our country and in the world. That is the ambition of the Innovation Expo 2018 on 4 October 2018.
