Biotechnology industries in Europe generate an annual revenue of approximately EUR 21 billion and contribute to the modernisation of European industry. They are used in a variety of industrial sectors such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals, animal health, textiles, chemicals, plastic, paper, fuel, food, and feed processing. As this sector is also rapidly growing in China, European SMEs are finding more and more opportunities in China's biotechnology sector.
