The Institut für Textiltechnik at RWTH (one of the biggest and renowned textile research facilities worldwide) is coordinating a proposal for the DT-FOF-05-2019 (Open Innovation for collaborative production engineering, IA) call: DT-FOF-05-2019 (Open Innovation for collaborative production engineering, IA), call deadline 21.02.2019
The project aims to accelerate innovation cycles in the production of consumer-specific functional clothing. The innovation core to the proposal is to reduce lead times in the production of functional textiles by including the consumer in the definition of fit, function and design and by developing a modular setup of textiles. Therefore, a digital twin of the textile, which is prone to meet the consumer’s needs, is developed. This will allow increasing the sample adoption rate.
In the existing consortium there are partners from Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, covering textile engineering, design engineering, construction/modelling, open innovation. The core consortium is looking for further partners.
There are negotiations running with several companies from the machinery and processing and fabrication industry but we still lack the fashion brands & designer contribution. Maybe you can help us with your fashion contacts?
What are we looking for:
- fashion brands: wide product range, clothing sector, expertise in the design of product ranges;
- software manufacturers who are able to create digital images/twins: use of avatars (image of a human being)
- fashion designers: expertise in customizing products through features / design;
- prefabricators of textiles / companies in the “cut-and-sew” industry: expertise in the processing of textiles into finished product (for example by sewing)
Do you as a company or institute have interest in participating in this consortium, please respond to me or my colleage at Zenit - Zentrum für Innovation und Technik in NRW GmbH.
Look forward to your ideas! We will assist in getting you connected and supported for the project.
