Call for Proposals: Advanced Building Skins conference 11&11 October 2016 Bern -Switserland

On behalf of the Conference Committee, I am pleased to invite you to the 11th International Conference on Advanced Building Skins, to be held in Bern, Switzerland, on 10-11 October 2016. The aim of the Conference is to contribute to a multidisciplinary integrated planning approach by architects, engineers, scientists and manufacturers to reduce energy consumption of buildings. By fostering lively exchange between these groups, this conference will shed light on the significance of the building skin, with a view to putting scientific know-how into practice.

We are inviting you to present a paper on a topic falling within the scope of the conference, and to submit a proposal by 15 February 2016.

Proposals should be sharply focused; please avoid an introduction to the topic or a description of your organization. Each proposal should clearly identify its subject and its particular approach to it. You can submit your proposal in either English or German.

Please include the following information in your proposal:

• paper title plus 3 bullet points
• author’s and co-author’s names
• phone number, email address and postal address
• synopsis of 300 words (abstract) with 6 keywords

See the 2016 program for samples of bullet points; please do not use words like Introduction, Results, Conclusions, or Case Studies as bullet points.

Proposals should be submitted through the abstract submission form on the website. The Scientific Conference Committee will review your proposal, and submitters will be notified by 30 March regarding the status of their submission.

Vloerisolatie keuze op basis van PUR maatschappelijk ongewenst

Er zijn alternatieven die milieuvriendelijk en goedkoper zijn en beter presteren. Dat concludeert Jan Bovenlander van Grid Consult uit Diemen in zijn rapport ‘Maatschappelijke overwegingen bij het in situ aanbrengen van pur-isolatie aan de onderzijde van vloeren’. Volgens Bovenlander is de relatieve milieuprestatie van pur-isolatie zwak. Bovendien is het onzeker of slopers het ter plaatse aangebrachte materiaal tegen maatschappelijk aanvaardbare kosten uit de afvalketen kunnen verwijderen. “Ik ben geen fervent tegenstander, maar je bent wel dom om voor pur-isolatie te kiezen. Als er alternatieven zijn is het onverstandig om pur-schuim als isolatie onder een vloer aan te brengen.”

Bovenlander onderzocht zeven claims van tegenstanders van pur-vloerisolatie. Vier blijken terecht, drie onterecht. Om te beginnen neemt de isolatiewaarde van polyurethaan in de loop der jaren af. De werkelijke waarde van verouderd pur-schuim is onbekend. Volgens de onderzoeker moet daarom conform NEN 1068 worden uitgegaan van een warmtegeleiding van 0,035 W/mK. Een vers geblazen vloerisolatie van polyurethaan zou dan 9 centimeter dik moeten zijn, terwijl de gangbare dikte 6 centimeter is. In de praktijk is de isolatiewaarde door de variabele dikte en onzorgvuldige uitvoering vaak slechter dan door de leverancier is aangeboden. Volgens Bovenlander wordt voor het isoleren van vloeren met ter plekke gesprayde polyurethaan ten onrechte het verlaagde btw-tarief van 6 procent gehanteerd. Het lage tarief geldt namelijk alleen als de materiaalkosten minder dan de helft van de aanneemsom bedragen. Bovendien wordt de voor het lage tarief vereiste isolatiewaarde (Rc) van 2,5 m2K/W meestal niet gehaald. Tenslotte blijkt de milieubelasting van polyurethaan veel hoger dan van alternatieven. Bovenlander noemt als voordelen van pur-isolatie de snelheid van het aanbrengen en de naadloze uitvoering. Branchevereniging NVPU was gisteren niet bereikbaar voor commentaar.
