Het aantal elektrische tweewielers neemt sterk toe. Begin 2013 reden er in Nederland circa 1 miljoen elektrische fietsen en circa 29.000 elektrische brom- en snorfietsen en brommobielen. Niet alleen de gebruikers maar ook omwonenden genieten van de voordelen, zoals minder geluidsoverlast en minder uitlaatgassen.

Gemeenten kunnen met verschillende activiteiten het gebruik van elektrische tweewielers faciliteren of stimuleren. Het document ‘Elektrische tweewielers, Het handvat voor uw gemeente’ biedt hiervoor houvast. Ook de documenten ‘Startgids elektrisch vervoer voor gemeenten’ en ‘Laadinfrastructuur, oplossingen voor gemeenten’ helpen u op weg.

Subsidieregeling emissiearme taxi's en bestelauto's Bestelauto in de stad

Doel van dit programma is om emissies van luchtverontreinigende stoffen in de binnenstedelijke omgeving terug te dringen. Het stimuleren van de aanschaf van nieuwe schone bestelwagens en taxi’s - die recht hebben op vrijstelling of teruggave van BPM - draagt hieraan bij.
Om ondernemers te stimuleren tot de aanschaf van deze schone voertuigen stelt het Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu een budget van € 20 miljoen beschikbaar. De subsidie is beschikbaar voor voertuigen tenaamgesteld vanaf 1 oktober 2012 tot 1 januari 2015.

Dit programma is één van de maatregelen uit het Nationaal Samenwerkingprogramma Luchtkwaliteit (NSL). Het NSL bevat een pakket aan maatregelen die als doelstelling hebben om overal in Nederland tijdig te voldoen aan de Europese grenswaarden voor luchtkwaliteit. Een andere maatregel uit dit programma is de Subsidieregeling ongebruikte vrachtwagens en bussen Euro VI (www.agentschapnl.nl/euroVI).

Novel material used to capture carbon

Carbon capture, combined with alternative renewable energy sources, has the potential to change the face of the energy market and ensure a better future for all. This is because carbon capture could mitigate the impact that traditional fossil fuels have on the environment. The concept of carbon capture is not new, as it happens naturally every day in the environment. But a team of researchers, led by the University of Nottingham (UK), has developed a novel porous material that has unique carbon dioxide (CO2) retention properties. This material can be used in the fight to minimise the levels of CO2 entering the atmosphere. The study was funded in part by the COORDSPACE ('Chemistry of coordination space: extraction, storage, activation and catalysis') project, which received a European Research Council (ERC) grant worth EUR 2.5 million under the EU's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

The chief feature of this new material is its absorption of CO2, which the researchers say could have an impact on the development of new carbon capture products designed to reduce emissions from fossil fuel processes. This discovery dovetails with ongoing efforts to develop new materials for gas storage.

The head of the research team, Professor Martin Schröder from the University of Nottingham, said: 'The unique defect structure that this new material shows can be correlated directly to its gas absorption properties. Detailed analyses via structure determination and computational modelling have been critical in determining and rationalising the structure and function of this material.' The team's results have been published in the journal Nature Materials.

The interlocked metal organic framework the researchers created is called NOTT-202a. It consists of tetra-carboxylate ligands, a structure made up of a series of molecules or ions bound to a central metal atom filled with indium metal centres. The structure resembles a beehive, as it is arranged in a honeycomb-like pattern, allowing CO2 to be absorbed selectively. While other gases, such as nitrogen, methane and hydrogen, can pass through the structure, CO2 remains trapped in the material's nanopores, even at low temperatures.

The team used state-of-the-art x-ray powder diffraction measurements to gain insight into the unique CO2 capturing properties of the material, as well as advanced computer modelling to probe the material at the Diamond Light Source UK research facility.

Masterclass Duurzame Openbare Verlichting, the next steps

Op 21 mei organiseert gemeente Utrecht in samenwerking met Ziut en Agentschap NL een bestuurlijke masterclass over duurzame openbare verlichting. De bijeenkomst is bedoeld voor burgemeesters, wethouders, gedeputeerden en dijkgraven en vindt plaats van 14:30 tot 20:00 uur in het Stadhuis van Utrecht.

Afgelopen jaren is er in Nederland veel gebeurd om energie te besparen en zo onze CO2-uitstoot te reduceren. Veel gemeenten hebben tal van initiatieven ontplooid om op dit gebied een koploperspositie te bereiken. Maar hoe moeten we nu verder? Hoe blijven we aan kop? Hoe zorgen we ervoor dat vele nog ongerealiseerde ideeën worden opgepakt? Hoe kunnen we nog meer goede ideeën daadwerkelijk uitvoeren? Daarom organiseert gemeente Utrecht samen met Agentschap NL en Ziut een masterclass. Hierin willen we vervolgstappen initiëren bij de verduurzaming van de openbare verlichting in Nederland.

Inhoud van de masterclass
Professor Jan Rotmans, landelijk aanjager van resultaatgerichte duurzaamheidsprojecten, zet de discussie op scherp met zijn prikkelende presentaties. TNO zal ons inspireren en de stadsregio Rotterdam deelt de resultaten van haar benchmarkonderzoek. Daaruit blijkt hoe het verduurzamen van openbare verlichting bij vijftien gemeenten en één waterschap in de praktijk wel of niet werkt. Bovendien presenteren BAM en Ziut u een wereldprimeur: een lichtmast met een oplossing voor de fijnstofproblematiek. Ook krijgt u inzicht in de aanpak van het ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu. De gemeente Utrecht presenteert de aanpak 'Utrechtse Energie!', waarmee zij tot 2020 de CO2-uitstoot met 30% gaan terugbrengen.

CO2- en MVO-Prestatieladder in 2012 fiscaal aftrekbaar

Organisaties met een MVO-Prestatieladder of CO2-Prestatieladder kunnen in aanmerking komen voor extra belastingaftrek in 2012.

De Milieulijst 2012 van MIA/Vamil biedt veel meer fiscale aftrekmogelijkheden voor bedrijven die gecertificeerd zijn of gaan worden voor milieuvriendelijke dienstverlening en productie.

De Milieulijst 2011 bood al fiscaal voordeel voor ondernemers die investeren in milieuvriendelijke productie volgens de eisen van Milieukeur en Europees Ecolabel of het verlenen van milieuvriendelijke diensten volgens de eisen van Green Key , Blauwe Vlag en 'Erkend Duurzaam' van de Bovag. Sinds 1 januari 2012 zijn daar verschillende certificaten aan toegevoegd, zoals de CO2-prestatieladder en de MVO-prestatieladder.

Daarnaast stimuleert de Milieulijst 2012 in tegenstelling tot voorgaande jaren meerdere niveaus van milieuprestatie zoals bij Green Key. De hoogte van het fiscale voordeel op de investering is afhankelijk van de mate van duurzaamheid van het betreffende keurmerk en het niveau waarvoor uw bedrijf gecertificeerd is. De letter voor de codes geeft de hoogte van het voordeel aan.

Ook nieuw op de Milieulijst 2012 is fiscaal voordeel voor investeringen in gecertificeerde milieuvriendelijke producten volgens Europees Ecolabel, Milieukeur, Dubokeur en C2C.

Proposals should be sent in PDF format to proposals@energy-forum.com by April 15th 2012. The international scientific conference committee will review you abstract. Submitters will be notified by May 15th regarding the status of their submission with detailed instructions for preparing their final papers (i.e. a template in Word format) and suggestions for accommodation in Bressanone. Registration and payment of the reduced registration fee of 380 EUR is due by June 1st. The fee includes all conference documentation, lunches and coffee breaks. Full papers must be received by July 31st and will be included in the conference documentation available in a printed version at the congress.

Those papers that will not be submitted for presentation in plenary session will be considered for poster presentation. Poster presenters are also entitled to the reduced registration fee of 380 EUR.

Clean Tech-café 20 september: alles over de waterstof-brandstofcel 30-08-2011

Wat zijn de mogelijkheden en onmogelijkheden van brandstofcellen op dit moment en welke ontwikkelingen mogen we in de toekomst verwachten? Kortom: hoe hangt de vlag er voor de waterstof-brandstofcel bij? Rob van der Sluis van MTSA vertelt er dinsdag 20 september meer over…

Op tal van plekken worden op dit moment toepassingen ontwikkeld, ontworpen en uitgeprobeerd. Zo heeft MTSA, deelnemer van kiEMT,

Why the cleantech Forum comes to Amsterdam this week

Why We're Going Dutch Next Week
This week we'll welcome hundreds of you to our 7th European Cleantech Forum, our first in the Netherlands, our 30th worldwide.
It seems like a more appropriate time to be in Amsterdam than ever before for several reasons:

1) Cleantech has become a very global phenomenon very quickly. The search for investors, partners, and markets needs to adopt an international perspective from the outset to maximize probabilities of success. Since the 16th century, the Netherlands economy has been closely tied to international trade, and the opening up of new growth markets in the global economy.

2) Cleantech is in need of more capital to accelerate the innovations towards the scale of deployments necessary. The next generation of financial innovations are as much in demand, as technological ones to fully unlock the potential of the world’s growing cleantech portfolio. Financial innovations such as a stock exchange and a pension fund can, in part at least, be traced back to Amsterdam and it could very well be the seat of the next wave of financial innovation needed to scale cleantech.

3) Resource efficiency, not energy generation, is the big innovation theme today. As we enter a generation during which the challenges of food, land and water scarcity will become intense and impactful, we have a lot to learn from the Netherlands where 25% of its land is below sea level and yet they are the world’s third largest exporter of agricultural goods.

Meet & Greet bijeenkomst 5 van 5: De gemeente Enschede als duurzaam bedrijf

Dit is al weer de vijfde van in totaal vijf bijeenkomsten uit de reeks Meet and Greet duurzame bedrijven in Twente. Deze bijeenkomsten komen voort uit Twente onderneemt duurzaam. De vijfde en laatste bijeenkomst gaat over de Gemeente Enschede en vindt plaats op 12 april 2011 van 15.00 uur tot 17.00 uur.

Tijdens deze bijeenkomst komen de volgende onderwerpen aan de orde:
• Duurzaamheid als grondstof voor een product of een manier van werken?
• Vragen en antwoorden over duurzaamheid
• Wat betekent duurzaamheid in de praktijk van alledag?
• Waar begint duurzaamheid en wat is de grootste kans op succes?

Deze zomer vloog Ben Cappelle met zijn team over de Atlantische Oceaan op biobrandstof. Geen nieuws denkt u? Toch wel, daar waar grote vliegtuigmaatschappijen één van de vier straalmotoren op biobrandstof laten draaien, vliegt Ben met een éénmotorige zuigermotor. Dat is wel van een andere orde.

Ben Cappelle begon zijn vliegcarriere als piloot bij de Koninklijke Luchtmacht op de helikopter in 1978. Na 20 jaar en een managementfunctie bij de KLM is hij zijn eigen bedrijf begonnen voor het opleiden van piloten. De opleiding school is in 2008 inactief gemaakt. Ben heeft in 2008 zijn bedrijf ACE omgebouwd en een R&D bedrijf opgericht. Iinmiddels wordt er op Vliegveld Twente onderzoek gedaan naar het bijmengen van biobrandstof (3e generatie) in vliegtuigbrandstof. Dit wordt gedaan onder de naam Clean Tech Development Center. Onderzoek in de praktijk wijst uit wat de gevolgen zijn van biobrandstof. Zo is het goedje nogal corrosief om dat het vocht uit de lucht aantrekt, maar is de verbranding erg schoon. Samen met andere bedrijven worden testen gedaan en onderzoek verricht. Droom is een uiteindelijk een CO2 neutraal business jet bedrijf te kunnen runnen tegen concurrerende lagere groene brandstofprijzen waarbij ook de geluidsbelasting wordt aangepakt. De hoofdactiviteit van CTDC betreft echter het ontwikkelen en exploiteren van een Green R&D test en certificeer luchtvaartbedrijf met als doel het retrofitten van motoren op biobrandstof. Iets wat in de luchtvaart nogal wat inspanning vraagt. CTDC heeft als doel dit uiteindelijk te realiseren op de luchthaven Twente als eerste groene luchtvaartonderneming.
Maar er is veel meer mogelijk en er is ruimte genoeg voor nieuwe initiatieven en partners op dit gebied. Wat is de toekomst van Vliegveld Twente volgens Ben? Welke expertise zoekt Ben nog? Waar is er nog aansluiting nodig? Kan er versterking worden gevonden en hoe kunnen deze elkaar versterken? Luister mee, denk mee, doe mee en sluit aan deze dinsdag

NET-Trofee 2009 ZOEKT energiezuinige projecten in de bouw

Inschrijvingen voor VROM-energieprijs kan tot en met
1 september 2009

De inschrijving voor de jaarlijkse NET-Trofee (Nationale Energie Toekomst Trofee) is volop van start. Gemeenten, bouwbedrijven, woningcorporaties en projectontwikkelaars kunnen meedingen naar deze landelijke prijs voor energie-bewust wonen en werken. Het gaat hierbij om slimme, energiezuinige projecten of initiatieven die een bijdrage leveren aan de CO2-reductie. Andere kwalificaties voor het winnende project zijn onder meer ondernemerschap, onconventionele aanpak, innovatieve technieken en brede toepasbaarheid.

De NET-Trofee zal in het najaar worden uitgereikt. De winnaar van de NET-Trofee ontvangt een kunstwerk en een geldprijs van € 25.000,- voor een nieuw energiezuinig project.

In 2008 won woningcorporatie Oost Flevoland Woondiensten in Biddinghuizen met de duurzame renovatie van 85 woningen. Een heel goed voorbeeld voor andere woningcorporaties om de woning- voorraad duurzaam te maken en de aandacht die daar bij is voor de leefbaarheid in een wijk.
